Tasmanian pepper is a rare plant found only in Australia. The Parrawe plantation is located in the cool rainforests in the western part of Tasmania. Only 6 tons can be produced annually.
The Tasmanian pepper presents itself in the first moment with a sweetish warm taste, followed by an intense pungency, which soon fades away, but leaves an unusual daze on the palate. Australians use this pepper to give emu and kangaroo steaks a wild and fiery flavour. In general, it complements all preparations of grilled meat, lamb and poultry, but also tomatoes and green vegetables.
