This black Banasura pepper is one of the most sought-after rarities of South India.
In the midst of a magnificent natural landscape, in the northeast of Kerala around the Banasura Sagar natural dam, this pepper grows. Best climatic conditions, fertile soils and a lot of manual work result in a very special pepper. Even the pepper plants used are fundamentally different from the pepper plants of other regions. With a height of up to 12 meters, they clearly exceed the usual plant height of about 3-4 meters. The pepper plant itself is a cultivation of the varieties Karimunda and Panniyur, which are considered to be of particularly high quality.
The pepper is harvested only when the grain has reached its full maturity. The pepper berries are unusually large and much more aromatic than other pepper varieties. Hand-sorted and sun-dried, the Banasura pepper thanks the high effort with an intense taste experience.
