The name of this jam comes from the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, where traders from the Far East, the West and the local Sogdians met. All brought the scents and tastes of their countries. From the West came raspberries, native to the Alps; from the East came exotic fruits like the lichti; the Sogdians, who inherited Persia, flavoured their dishes with rose petals.
Le Clos de Laure’s jam is carefully cooked from fresh ingredients in a copper kettle and stirred by hand according to artisan tradition.
