This tea comes from the Castleton plantation, an area just south of Kurseong (South Darjeeling). Founded over 130 years ago under the name ‘Kumseri’, this tea garden was renamed ‘Castleton’ due to the castle-like main building. The production and harvest are of very good to outstanding quality.
We purchased the 4th plucking which has an even, voluminous leaf with whitish tips. The infusion in the cup is characterised by its warm, light yellow colour. On the palate, it impresses with its delicate, aromatic flavour, a subtle sweetness and a hint of vanilla.
