It is unknown since when the Arabica coffee tree has been growing in the forests of the southwestern Ethiopian highlands. However, Ethiopia can be called the “native country of Arabica coffee” with a clear conscience, especially because of the unique genetic diversity of the Arabica plant and its optimal adaptation to the environment. One of the best coffees in the world grows on the high plains of Sidamo, in southern Ethiopia. Sidamo coffee is named after the former province of Sidamo, not to be confused with today’s Sidama zone. The small to medium-sized and very compact bean thrives at altitudes between 1,400 and 2,200 metres above sea level.
Sidamo Aida is a fascinating coffee, very delicate with a hint of fresh fruit. Combined with milk, it develops a fine caramel aroma.
