We offer our customers culinary experiences. Our assortment consists of local, domestic specialities and selected, international products. We are very excited about the very lively and innovative scene of small producers here in Switzerland and neighbouring countries. Poppy seeds from the Emmental or safran from the Surselva are just two examples of how diverse the range of products available in our country has become again.
When buying from abroad, we place great value on direct contact with the producers. This does not mean that we purchase all articles directly. Given our size, that would not make sense ecologically or economically. Transparency in purchasing is very important to us. This way we can guarantee high, consistent quality, fair prices that really reach the producers and first-hand knowledge about the products.
The transfer of knowledge to our customers is a central concern for us and gives us great pleasure. Especially with a diverse assortment, passing on information about cultivation, taste and use is important and contributes to the appreciation of the product.
The whole team is involved in the decision for new products and therefore brings the same enthusiasm for our assortment.
The careful use of resources is an important topic for us, and not just now. We have implemented the following topics so far and are constantly scrutinising our processes:
- Coffee roasting with biogas (since 2015)
- Paperless bookkeeping
- CO2 neutral shipping of all postal packages (domestic and international)
- Delivery by bike courier in the city of Zurich (of course also CO2 neutral)
- Shipping in cardboard boxes, partly reused, stuffing the shipping boxes with newsprint and compostable filling material
- Packaging in paper if possible (lining the bags with parchment substitute)
- Coffee bags without aluminium
- Dividing our waste into plastic, cardboard, glass and paper enables us to keep our normal monthly operational waste below 100 kg
Our website is operated CO2 neutrally in a Zurich data centre that uses 100% renewable energy, offsets the remaining CO2 emissions and is certified by myclimate®.
