Saffron threads Iran Super Negin organic 2g

The Iranian Negin saffron is considered to be one of the best saffron worldwide (if not the best).
For 1 kg of the highest quality saffron threads up to 150,000 flowers are needed, which corresponds to a daily work performance of about 12 pickers! This also explains the high price of this noble spice.
Its colour is deep red and the threads are characterised by their funnel-shaped upward spreading form.
For the quality designation “Negin”, translated “the diamond on the ring”, only the deep red parts of the pistil are used. The quality is measured according to the ISO standard. The crocin (colouring content), picrocrocin (bitter substance) and safranal (scent) content are decisive for the assessment.
In the case of the purchased lot, the values are 246 for crocin, 92 for picrocrocin and 38 for safranal. For negin, the minimum crocin content is 190.
Tip: To get the best aroma, put the saffron threads to little lukewarm water and add this to the food just before serving.
