Pinipig is green glutinous rice which, when roasted and pounded flat, is traditionally used in the Philippines for desserts, as well as in cakes, drinks and other foods. The pilinut is the drupaceous fruit of an original Philippine tree. The seeds (nuts) contain hardly any carbohydrates and are higher in energy than macadamia nuts. They are often roasted in honey or used in confectionery. The fact that both ingredients combine perfectly with chocolate is actually obvious!
